So after 3 years of perfect ac the damn thing just quit. So I took it up to my buddies shop and replaced the valve stem seals, Vacumed the system and charged it. It worked great for 1 night. Next day it was hot again. I added die this time and recharged. Gone next day again.
I found the leak on the back of the compressor. I don't know what valve it is but my friend said it is to release pressure. (valve is #3 on pic)

Can it get stuck open or something.
I just bought a new drier and expansion valve and need to know if I should replace the valve on the back of the compresser or not.

This is the "mysterious" pop off valve. I know of about 12 of these little PITAs that have gone out. I don't know at what point these blow but once they go you have to replace them. One of my buddies jbwelded his....I don't know if that is a safe solution.
As moraly wrong as some may think this is I stole one from my Mustang that's getting tore down for roadcourse only duty. It's the same thread but I'm sure it's calibrated for a different psi...the a/c in the Mustang was icy cold before I started tearing it apart....
Advance auto parts seems to list these, but oddly enough they quore a sae thread...
I've replaced the expansion valve in mine hoping that the obstruction that would have caused the pressure to go high enough to blow the pop off vavle was in there as the expansion valve and the compressor are the only moving parts.

At this point I have to recommend changing the pop off valve and the expansion valve. I may change my opinion once i charge my system again.
