Go by MPG. Not miles per tank

How do you divide it? I have an 11 gallon tank, and I drive until my light is on and divide the miles driven on that tank by 10.

Works great.

I usually get ~34 mpg with an exhaust leak.

Not how you want to do it.

1) Fill your tank to full & Reset trip meter

2) Emtpy tank

3) Fill back up

4) Number of miles driven divided by number of galons used. (Most gas stations go three decimal places, so MPG should be like-----> 34.565

With my b16a2, I manage to get about 20 mpg, which is horrible.

Gotta remember, lots of people just can't figure out how to calculate mileage... Even though its super simple.

on the government test mpg on 2000 civic Si
city is about 22 and highway is 29 instead of dealer claimed mpg 26 city and 31 highway.
with 11.9 gal tank on civic si..and according to governement calculation..u are looking to get 261.8 on local street driving and 345.1 on high way.but once again.these are just government numbers.mpg is vary due to different driving habbits.

Did your car shut off b/c loss of gas?

This way that everyone is posting is the best way to go about it. You will never get all the gas out of your tank

No, no. WHen you stop to fill for gas, divide your trip number by what it took to get full.
