i think its knockin. how do i tell? it only knocks at low idle. if i press the gas bringin it up to 3k it stops. ive read that if it stops then its not the rings? maybe its piston slap? nebody want to chime in? i am about to boost but dont want to slap it on only for it to blow 10 mins later. thanks!

may be low oil pressure. get it to make the noise constantly, not by dropping all the oil out, but if it does it at idle, start popping off plug wires one by one. when and if the noise goes away, it will tell you (if it is a rod bearing) which one it is.

thats what i was thinkin. i want to check the oil pressure. might b just that i need a new pump. its sounds like its comin from cyl 4. do i just pull the plugs at idle since thats when it makes it?

if it is flickering at idle, you may have a pressure issue.

sounds like u have a rod bearing starting to go. i would def drop the pan at least and and check starting with cyl #4 since u think its coming from that cyl. Also that would explain why your oil pressure lights coming on, resulting in a spun bearing causing a loss of oil pressure. good luck
