so basically the other end that isnt attached to the key entry piece is what im trying to figure out what to connect to to make my key unlock and lock the doors...thanks...need help asap since i got work ina bit and wanna get it done by then haha
The key cylinder should go through the handle in the door. Their should be a large 'c' clip that retains the key cylinder in the handle. Next, two bolts hold the handle in the door with a large (about the size of the handle) metal bracket on the back side (interior of the door). The lock rod is then attached to the latch mechanism. I don't have a photo of one, but their should be 4 rods that go to the latch. One from the interior handle, one from the interior lock, one from the exterior handle and finally one from the exterior lock cylinder. The lock cylinder is going to attach to the same mechanism on the latch that the interior lock rod attaches to. I'm not sure who dismantled the vehicle, but the grommets on the end of the rods should have been left in their respective places and the grommet should have been turned and the rod popped out leaving the grommet in the original device. I'm not sure what year your car is, only the 96 and up civics have the metal retainer on the back of the handle for anti-theft purposes. Finally, to see a schematic, try Hondapartscheap.com. I hope this helps.
