Probably because the car has been tapped for power. It's not a land speed machine, it's an economy car. Plus, unless you're driving on the Autobahn or on a closed track, there should be absolutely no need to ever go that fast.

Well, I usually prefer going only that fast on a track, since that's the only place I can do no harm to anyone but myself.

the D17 is built for economy not for speed this is the reason why you cannot pass 100mph.

your car doesn't make enough power to get it up anything higher then 100 and you have an auto which hurts your top speed too.

That wont have actually been 130mph though, speedos are always a bit optimistic. Try strapping a GPS system or a TomTom (do you have those...?) into your car and you'll see what i mean.

to anyone that says an auto ex cant do 120 or 130 hasnt driven one hard lol. there was a time when i felt the only way to get from point A to point B was to go warp speed lol. times have changed and i rarely take it past 80 anymore. but my car has seen 130 mph downhill.....with the wind lol

ya i figured it was being optomistic. i dont personally have a tomtom or a gps but that would be a good way to properly record the speed.

sorry guys, it's not cool to go over 70mph unless you're on a track.

you guys should be ashamed of yourself.

ps. i did 115mph when i first got my car in 2003 =X

In order to properly record speed, I suggest a speed recording gun. Be it radar or laser, either should work.

Some places they even have stations set up that you can test your car to get an accurate reading. They are marked by cars parked along the highway and other various roads. These car usually have stripes going down the side and after they record your speed they'll turn their flashy lights on, just to be nice and let you know that they have the speed recorded for you.
