dcrh/oem type-s b-pipe/spoon axleback.....worth it?
just like the title says. Ive been debating on getting an exhaust for awhile now and i really like the spoon axleback but if i go that route i will end up probably keeping the oem b-pipe. Would it be worth it to dump 500 into the axleback or would it be more beneficial to get a complete catback such as HKS. Reason i like the spoon is because its not too huge looking on the *** end of the car and well.......its spoon! Opinions would be great. Sorry for another exhaust thread but im stuck on this. Only restriction on the stock b-pipe 'i think' is the size. I was told the resonator doesn't affect the flow at all. thanks fellas.
Exhaust threads are good when people think outside-of-the-box.
If you use the 05-06 Type-S B-pipe with the Spoon axle-back, then that will be a good setup. The 02-04, IMO, does not breathe well enough.
However, if people heard my setup, I think a lot of people would be doing it. I'm using a DC5R axle-back coupled with a 05 OEM B-pipe with the rear resonator removed.
Not just saying this because I have it, but it really is a nice sounding exhaust. Quiet on the highway, but it growls pretty good when you get on the gas.
If you go the OEM b-pipe with spoon axle back, I do recommend you keep the resonator, because with the spoon you'll need it.

DC5R axlebacks have a little 'flap' in them that opens up at certain pressures. So, they become more free-flowing as RPMs increase.
The OEM 05-06 Type-S muffler is still pretty good though. I used an 02-04 Type-S muffler for a long roadtrip (with my setup) once just to see how much it would quiet things down, and volume was only slightly more muffled.
Point being, that B-pipe resonator does more for noise than you'd think.

Do you have any idea where i might be able to get one? I think im going to go the same route as you. dc5r axleback an remove resonator on b-pipe. thanks a lot!
