Default Piston Slap on freshly built motor, Theories?

Hey guys, after the new build of my motor upon initial startup, when cold-- the motor will slap very loudly, but then will calm itself after the motor is warm. I was told by my builder that maybe piston to wall clearance was too large, so a rebuild and maybe 84mm pistons will be neccesary. Question is-- how neccessary is this, and what other causes could cause piston slap when cold? Motor runs great, not burning oil either, motor has 1500miles on it since the new build, maybe I should just toss some 20w oil in it

Setup:
83mm Benson sleeves
83mm CP pistons
Crower Rods
Fluidampner
LS Crank balanced micro'd.

Thanks alot guys!
