will wrapping the tubing with heatwrap/repellent make the intake sound quieter at all??? or does all the sound come out of the intake opening instead of coming out the sides?

Your intake will be quite cooler, getting shielded from most engine bay heat soak, resulting in a little more horsepower, thus making a little more noise. (I imagine)

Heat wrap definitely won't quiet it down, I can tell you that...

 

cooler air, more power... you make that sound like it's a bad thing. lol

it would take a resonator in line with the intake to quiet down the intak noise. (think the OEM setup)
either that or a lighter foot on the throttle.

 

You bought the wrong intake if you want something quiet...

If you add the water bypass valve to the CAI, it might help, but doubt it...

That will make it whistle & be loud.

 

Really? I used to run one on my CAI and didn't notice it.

 

Mine used to whistle everytime I turned it on. It sounded like the Mayberry theme song when sitting at a red light.
