Default Engine Rebuilds

What are the going rates for rebuilding a 1.5L? Mine has 172k on it and is starting to blow oil...i figure it's lived it's life and is time to freshen it up or get it replaces. What's your idea's?

You would be better off just swapping in a low mileage motor like the zc.

after rebuilding my ZC, i agree with him on this. it will be cheaper.

...but i was rebuilding mine to race and wanted a fresh motor, hence the rebuild.

i have an Si motor out of a 91 crx and it needs to be rebuilt, my friends shop told me to go zc but since i already ahve the motor it is going to be chepaer to rebuild. they say taht the berings are on back order, which sucks. but the build condtiing of rings, berings, water and oil pump and such is going to be cheaper than getting a zc. not too hard to rebuild to stock.

Hey 88civic, do you have a machine shop lined up to prep the block for you? or do you plan on getting that done? All the shops around here in hicksville really only know domestic cars. I'm trying to find an Oregon shop that knows what they're doing w/ Honda motors.
