hello i have a question about honda s2000 manual transmission
the tip of mainshaft head is moving back and forward as shown on picture,i'm interested how many Milimeters is a normal for it to move back and forward. waiting for your answers asap!.

man thats a very interesting question. you having problems with clutch engagement?

 

no i'm not, i just changed the mainshaft and second gear and when we fixed the transmission i noticed the tip was moving,i havent attached it to the car yet, is it normal?

 

I hope this could be of some help, it's what i got out of the online service manuals through honda...

S2000 - M/T Mainshaft Assembly Clearance Inspection.

Support the bearing inner race, and push down on the mainshaft.

Measure the clearance between 3rd gear and the ball bearing with a feeler gauge.

Standard:
0.06-0.19 mm (0.002-0.007 in.)

Service Limit:
0.3 mm (0.012 in.)

 

ok. item a in you diagram is the pivot fork. s2000 have a pull type clutch kit. release bearing snap into pressure plate. pivot fork slides into release bearing arms. the amount of movement the pivot fork has is told by the slave cylinder movement and the fork pulling on the pressure plate. pressure is torqued to spec against the clutch disc and flywheel. giving the pressure plate only so much movement to disengage clutch. hence if all items are install correctly the amount of movement the pivot fork has is no relative to one item

 

Anyone know how wide is mainshaft 64mm spring washer please see #4 on photo
