Would you Spend 1000+ for a d16z6 mini me swap?
im planning on doing a d16z6 mini me swap over my d15b7. im just wondering if $1000.00 for all the parts minus installation is worth it.
heres the setup
mini me complete head $$
rebuilt the head $$
new timing belt $$
new water pump $$
new gaskets & seats $$
distributor $$
distributor rotor & cap $$
ngk spark plugs & wires $$
blox intake manifold $$
p28 ecu $$
a regular non rebuilt mini me swap w/ stock parts gained about 20-30hp
i have a 93 civic hatchback DX model 145k mileage
my car is equipped with aem cold air intake, edelbrock 4-2--1 headers, 5zigen muffler
about how much hp and tq will i gain? and if $1000.00 is worth it?

Honestly, you could search the marketplace and find a used B18b1 for that price minus installation.
I dont feel that 1k would be worth a mini-me swap.

my friend said i can gain about to 50hp, then he said remove A/C and all the other stuff
Heres some spec
mini me swap= 25-40hp
header= 5-8hp
intake manifold =6-10hp
cold air intake =4-6
muffler = 1-4
is this correct?

i wouldnt pay 1g for that. u could seriously pick up a b18a1 or b18b1 swap for around that price. the ls is a better platform to make power but idunno. personally i cant justify spending any money aside from maintanence on a sohc.

I got lucky and picked mine up complete(everything to change over minus a $50 shift linkage) with a B16 trans for $800. If you find a deal like this even with an LS trans I would go for it and you are looking at about 5-600 or so for the labor of the swap. I would not get rid of my AC or PS... thats just plain silly for the "hp" you get. I would give two bits of a **** about 5-10 hp (w/e the numbers are) to be uncomfortable in my own skin during anytime of the year when heat is present. Search the marketplace a little bit and find yourself a B18b1. A mini-me swap just isnt worth that money.

it costs that much because of rebuilding the head. extra about $$200-300.00
so whats the estimated price range for a complete b18b motor with tranny? and installation?
thanks

There you go fixed it. O yeah and thats if you buy really expensive parts that are going to all work together with your motor, not a bunch of ebay crap that you think looks good.

I was a moron and spend ~$1000 on my mini-me, including tools and repairing my blown head gasket. I paid WAY too much for the head. It's was not worth it.
Throw an a6 cam and z6 manifold on your d15b7. That, combined with your intake, header, and some new exhaust piping, will produce about as much power as the mini-me, if not more. Search for Mista Bone's d15b7 build.
Also, you can't say "5hp for intake + 10hp for header + 10hp for exhaust = 25hp gained". It doesn't work like that. Everything is part of a SYSTEM and you need to take the entire SYSTEM into account when planning your modifications.
If you're hell-bent on the mini-me, the most I'd spend is $500, and even that is too much.

IMO, I would definelty go B series. I was in a similar delima, new z6 or b18 and i chose the b18 and im really happy. You can pick up complete swaps pretty darn cheap. I would go B.

You didnt read my post. I said that I picked up my complete swap for around 800 and that installation would cost you about 5-600 at a shop to have it done clean and correctly. I doubt you will find a deal like I found on a complete B181b so you are probably looking at 900-1k. If you want to go through Hmotorsonline.com you are looking at 2200 for a B18b (JDM) plus shipping and installation.
Your best bet is a used B18b1 from the marketplace or craigslist.

B18B1
^^ Am I missing something?
And by that if you are meaning a B16a,B18c/c1, or B18c5 swap it might be out of the OP's desired price range. And If I were to pick a Vtec motor it would be the B18c1, but even then you are @ 3k+ depending on where you purchased the motor and the condition, plus installation.

thats entirely too much. like others said id go with a b18a or b18b ls motor. much more power and potential.
for now i personally am going to be doing a mini me swap while i save up and buy parts over probably the next year to do an LS swap.
I've spent in total now about $250 now for everything for my mini me swap. I got a great deal on ebay for a 2000 ex d16y8 head with 30k miles on it thats in amazing shape for $120 with valve cover, solenoid, and everything attached and ready to go. You'll save a lot of money also if you can do the head swap yourself which is what i'll be doing. And for the power gain you might see by actually swapping the harnesses and ecu its just not worth it to me so im using a rpm activated switch instead to engage vtec. I dont see how you could justify spending all that extra cash for probably very marginal gain so id rather just save it and put it towards a b18.
my 2 cents
