anyone ever squeeze a 225/50ZR14 v710 onto a 5.5 inch wide 14" rim?
anyone ever squeeze a 225/50ZR14 v710 onto a 5.5 inch wide 14" rim?
Asking about autox, i've got a set of these, but the 89 civic si has a 5.5inch wide rim stock correct? Just wondering if it can be done.
Thanks.

It will go on the rim but you need to see if it will rub against the car. Try one, or better yet borrow one if you can find someone in your area and put it on the front and rear of the car to see if it has clearance issues or not.
It will clear on a 6" rim, cuz that's what they're mounted on now, but my local autox club says I have to have 5.5", and it was almost impossible to squeeze them onto the 6", so i wonder if its possible onto the 5.5" ones.
That Civic has a 14x5 wheel, and yes, it can be done. Recommend you find a tire guy that mounts a lot of race tires, there's kind of a trick to it using a tire iron. I ran 225's up front when I ran my CRX in stock class.
I wouldn't. You're getting into safety issues when you mount a tire on a wheel outside of the manufacturer's specs for width. The 225/50-14 V710 is only approved for rim widths of 6.0-8.0 inches. When you put it on a 14x5.5, you generate extra stress on the sidewall, which can result in extra heat, etc. Not a good idea.
The 205/55-14 V710 is approved for mounting on a 14x5.5, though.

you are sure the 89 civic si has a 14x5 wheel? Where can I find definitive information about its stock specs? Something that honda published would be best, cuz my local autox group are being very **** about this.
