Default del sol alternator not charging

ok so the first alternator was tested and at idle it put out 12 volts and at 2000 rpm it put out 10, the guy at autozone said i need a new alternator... after putting the new alt in my battery light on the gauge cluster was kinda fading in and out and all the lights in the car were way too dim. I checked the battery terminals and they were on tight and there's no corrosion. Later that night the car was completely dead. So i pulled the battery out and had it tested, they recharged it and said it is good.

I put the battery back in and drove back to auto zone and they tested the alt again... this time it was 13v at idle and 10v at 2000rpm, so he ordered a replacement and it's coming in tomorrow. So my question to you all is, can it be something other than a defective alternator? I don't even know what to look for, has anyone else had this problem?

thanks for reading
