hood release cable broken...how do i open the hood?

is the cable still in the car?
if you can see it just pull it with some pliars
If it's not still in the car you're probably going to have to take off the splash guard and go under the bumper to find the cable, cut through the plastic, and pull the metal cable inside.

I had this happen, I took my front bumper off, Jacked the front of my car wayyy up in the air and reached up with a wrench and took off the whole latch assembely, its either 10 or 12 mm bolts, or you could probably get to it if you take the grill off.
