This is great news for American and Honda fans but I am a little bit disappointed that he didn't get the Ten Kate ride. Kiyonari is all but certain to have one of the seats and I hope another one goes to Johnny Rea. Otherwise Rea will probably join Xerox Ducati.
Anyway I imagine Honda was going to make the official announcement at their dealer show this week (along with the unveiling of the new 1000RR and a few other models...). I kind of hope they go with 3 bikes for next year and keep Zemke and Duhamel but who knows. I'd like to see those two guys have a chance to vindicate themselves next year on the new bike.

Hopefully Honda can help end the Suzuki AMA Superbike Championship... Kawasaki is improving a lot as Yamaha but both are still way off the pace. I'm not gonna knock Mladin or Spies either for being the best two riders out there but the Suzukis are SO much faster that it's insane. They had like an 8 second lead over 3rd place after like 4-5 laps in the Sat race. I think it was just as bad on Sunday...
in other news AMA supersport is still a blast to watch

As much as i hate to see that kinda thing I would hate to see it get restricted like they do in stuff like Nascar. technology will get better, one day Kawasaki will be on top and the next year it will be Honda. I see the same thing happen with AMD vs Intel in the computer world. i haven't been keeping up to date with moto GP but has anyone been able to catch up to Ducati? the last race i saw was shanghai and it was a little hard to watch...

It'll never be restricted like nascar. Supersport and superstock are the equivalent to nascar and even those bikes are nowhere close to what we get from a dealer.
Also I highly doubt that it'll flip flop between manufactures. Suzuki has had a strangehold on ama superbike for quite some time. The last 2 years more so then previous. AMA as a whole has serious problems with how it's run and how the rules are. Also in superbike yosh suzuki is pumping HUGE money into their AMA team. Honda isn't even supported by HRC. Yamaha is also killing it in WSBK but can barely podium in AMA SBK. Part of it is the riders but part of it is the support the teams have. There was a recent article in roadracingworld about the state of AMA. It's a pretty good read.

Also ducati has been killing it this year in MotoGP but those are all factory teams that have full support from the manufactures (even the satellite teams get factory parts eventually). Ducati's domination is due to several reasons: Stoner + ducati + bridgestone tires + 800cc rule change = a match made in heaven right now. Capirossi was doing extremely well last year but just can't seem to get used to this bike. Also being the first year after the rule change means that some bikes are just a lot better then others. This also isn't to mention that michelin hasn't been able to get a good race compound together for these bikes. Though if you look at last year Ducati came on strong at the end of the year and Capirossi was tied with Hayden until Gibernau crashed and took him out as well. I look for next year to be different cause Honda surely feels embarrased about being slapped around by ducati.

That was American Honda's choice, not HRC. They used to lease bikes from HRC but brought everything in house.

Mladin has one more year in his contract. He'll surely retire after that and Kawasaki will dominate then.

.. the points don't really seem to show that.

kawasaki just recently the last couple of races has been able to podium on a regular basis. The Hondas have been real strong and so have the yamahas with 2 on the front grid this past weekend. I think Hodgson on a new 1000rr could start spoiling some of suzuki's superbike championship. I'm not sure kawi or yamaha have the riders to start challenging for the lead (other then maybe Roger Hayden). Yates on the Jordan suzuki hopefully can get more in the mix too

Kawi has the riders but not the bike. In 2009 I'd like to see a strong Kawi with the same riders, Colin Edwards on the Yamaha, Hodgson on the Honda, Yates on a stronger Jordan/Factory Suzuki. Should be interesting.

honda seems to be failing at everything but the 600RR this year. I dont know if any of you watch F1 but honda is falling way behind. they just switched to V8 from V10s (not sure on CC limitations or really anything else at this point)
