Hey i want to replace my white/blue covered cluster bulbs with amber/orange bulbs.

i just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas to wheather i can buy amber/orange bulbs or amber/orange bulb covers.

and where can i get them?

If your talking about what I think your talking about. You should just spray them its pretty easy. A friend of mine did it and the lighting looks amazing.

 

I went to "michael's" and bought "Testor's" paint . It was hot orange I believe.

 

just go to auto zone. there should be some amber light bulbs over there. i got mine and it works great.

you can get bulb condoms too for em ...............i belive i used nissan 200sx bulb condoms idk tho, iether that or melt some plastic over it

 

i've decided to buy all-new bulbs and paint them #1628 thanks to someones FAQ post.

anyways does anyone have any links to other custom bulb clusters? thanks

 

well i did the cluster bulbs on my 94 eg hatch and they came out pretty decent. i went to local stores and picked up the best of what i could find. instead of the recommended competition orange #1628, i ended up with chevy orange #1620.
i picked up three packs (two bulbs each) of #24 bulbs and two packs of #74 bulbs from Sylvania. all this averaged just under $20.

i went down in my basement and gathered together my needed equipment:

blubs (green packs)
newspaper
spray paint (1620)
tape (to cover bulbs connectors)
and a empty coke 12pk cans box
with pierced cuts to stand the bulbs.



in the mean time the bulbs dried i stripped my dash components: cluster, cd player, climate control, and a couple panels.


after stripping my dash and waiting three hours for the bulbs to dry well i gathered the cluster and climate control in my room and started switching the bulbs, the cluster is easy but the climate control is a bitch.


after installing the bulbs i spent an hour or more putting everything back into my dash. and the outcome? RED... i should of known the paint wouldn't be perfect but at the time i convinced myself.



in the pictures they might look a little amberish but their flat red in person, but they still look good and many people thought the same.

 

that amber looks sweet... im doin it now lol.

Coke just re-released Vanilla Coke in like June.

damn 15 coats

 

i used a red sharpie. i took off the blue condom, and just colored the bulb with a red sharpie. came out in a nice amber shade :]
