My uncle is a welder by trade, so he's welding me up a box for my trunk-mount. Right now, it's just bolted to the floor.

Do you want my opinion on if you should get that battery box? If so, then I'd say yes, because it looks like a properly made kit.

By the way, I think you know why I had to relocate my battery. You're doing it for a similar reason.

the ones i can think of off hand are taylor and moroso.

btw: that BC battery is meant for track use only. You will have problems if you use it daily on the street.

None of those little lightweight batteries will start a car for very long. Search for them, the common opinion is they suck. Keep the normal size battery, put it in the trunk. You will find any box you buy to be 2x the size it needs to be, so either buy a bigger battery, or have a smaller box welded up.

having just a kswap does not require you to relocated the battery outside of the engine bay unless you are going to do a CAI. You can either relocated the battery to the trunk or inside the cabin of the car.

Personally, I would use the stock-sized battery. Just get a nicer one of that size, like a Duralast or something. Then, make sure the battery box is of the same size, and you should be fine.

PS. I thought you were doing the engine swap yourself?

I've heard that the "lightweight" batteries don't last. I have a 410cca battery from Advanced Auto that weighs 11lbs. Lighter than those expensive ones and will last longer (warrantied too). Just my 2 cents though.

The way I see it, it is safe being exposed under the hood of your car, so it should be fine being exposed in the trunk. If anything a box could trap the gases from a battery. I thought boxes were more for fire safety (keeping fire out and away from the battery).

thats true. keeping the battery confined incase of fire, corrosion, or explosion is important. and the light weight battery's typically don't last as long from what i here. my battery box was simple and easy to mount and i use a normal size battery. personally i wouldn't recomend a battery relocation unless it's in a box.

yes and no...

its okay to have a REGULAR battery in the hood.. in the TRUNK.... NO.. gases and corrosion is gonna be inside the cabin of the car.. but like u said a box in the trunk is what prevents all this.. thats why its NHRA regulations to have one when u race at the track

my battery is relocated to the trunk and pretty sure the box isnt for fire safety cuz my box is plastic which wouldnt last more then a few seconds in a fire.

If people haven't noticed from the pictures of the battery boxes, there is a tube that runs out of the box to the outside of your car. This tube vents the gases trapped in the box outside of your car.

All lightweight batteries for racing are specifically for RACING. Its not meant for daily driving. I had a friend that used the BC battery in his s2000 and it didn't last a week.

Is it a marine battery box? If so it is only meant to keep water out. The real auto racing boxes are made out of some type of metal.

summit racing says its approved for auto racing. but to me a metal box would be better. so eventually i might change it out.
