Ive been having some trouble with my car redlining early lately. It seems random to me, because my water temperature is always above 180 when i take the car into vtec. Sometimes the car will run to 8.5k like its supposed to, while other times it will only rev to 8k. Any help is appreciated. Im throwing a CEL 41 which is the header O2 sensor if that could possibly have anything to do with it. Thanks again

It's because your car is garbage, and your driving sucks mad donkey *****! It might redline at 8400 if you didn't have the red sparco seat and sold it to me for a fair price.

dont ask me why. I made sure all connections were secure, when i reconnect everything it is accurate for a while but then become off 2-500 rpms.

I dunno, but I just noticed today that I hit a limiter @ ~8200 indicated (on stock tach) while stopped just revving in neutral. When the car is at speed, it's normal.

Mine also do the same thing. My redline is 9500, but my car randomly redlines at 9100,9300 and so one. anyone with an answer of why this happen.....
Maybe those aftermarket tachs aren't any more accurate than the stock tach you think? They both connect the same way to the ICM don't they?

revving motors high in neutral is very bad, especially redlining. Think about it, with no load on the motor, many of the tolerances are looser, or in otherwise different than when the car is revving in gear. loose/changed tolerances=bad news.
