Honda Accord 2007 - Clicking Noise
Hi,
I have a peculiar problem with my new Honda Accord 2007 (automatic), which I bought about 4 months back. From any parking spot, when I put the vehicle in reverse, go back a bit, put the gear in "D" and start to drive forward, there is distinct clicking noise from the bottom of the car (not sure from where).
The clicking noise comes when I start to move forward and not while doing the reverse or after the vehicle has gained speed in the forward direction. Most of the times the noise is clear and distinct. Some times it is mild. When I raised this question with my dealer during the first oil change, he said that is normal and something to do with brake pads latching. Somehow, I am not convinced with that reason. If anybody is aware of this issue, can you please let me know regarding this problem.
Thanks
madhu

Have someone drive the car back and forth while you listen. If the sound is right at the wheel it is most likely just "pad slap". There is a small amount of rotational freeplay in the brake pads that allows them to shift a little bit when the brakes are applied after changing direction of travel. It is completely normal although I could by no means explain why some cars do it more than others and some don't at all. My Accord did it when I first got it but stopped after a while.
