Default I call him "Mini-Me"

Ok, sorry for the corny subject line. Anyway, I'm picking up an 89 Civic DX hatch tomorrow for my next project. I'm looking at building a mini-me setup with this one. I have a D15B2 from my 91 CRX that I just swapped out a few weeks ago and in the car that I'm buying. Either way I have a motor to build on and one to run in the meantime.
I've been doing some research and it seems that people are saying that the 96-00 Y8 head is a better choice than the 92-95 Z6 head. Is there any reason behind the newer head, or is it just because they are newer with less mileage? Are there advantages to this head over the Z6?
I have an injector resistor box and I know how to do the MPFI wiring. Is it possible to use everything including the intake manifold from the Y8/Z6 motor, then just replace the injectors with 88-91 Civic/CRX Si or 90-91 Integra LS one's? I guess the other parts on my list would be an 88-91 Civic/CRX or 90-91 LS ecu and the Si distributor with a RPM switch to activate the VTEC.
If anyone has some suggestions, or could add to my parts list I'd greatly appreciate it. I would like to get a really good parts list together so that I'm not halfway through the swap only to find out that I'm missing things.
