Adjusting Headlight beams
Ok I recently ordered a pair of black headlight housings from a company (shall remain nameless) , to make a long story short , the headlights look good , too bad they have a poor fit and finish , left nasty gaps along the fenders (where headlamp and fender come togather) nasty gap between the hood and top of housing as well as uneven spacing where the upper grill comes between the two headlamps . anyways cutting to the chase . the new headlamps were really out of aim , I noticed on the back of them there are two adjustment wheels that can be moved with a philips screwdriver . These adjustment wheels are also on the OEM units . On both assemblies the up and down adjustment works , but the side to side adjustment doesn't work at all on either (OEM AND AFTERMARKET) is this right or am I doing something wrong ? The aftermarket is getting sent back , but I would like to fine tune the aim of the oem's since the swap and reswap back . Anyone do this have any advice on it ?
can you send them back, or is it too late,
B/C if you send them back, get your $$$ back and spray your OEM ones like I did.
If you want directions, IM me or something, it took me about 60-90 minutes, and I am half-retarded when it comes to cars
I am very pleased with my results, and I am kind of a perfectionist. And saving that kind of $$$$ makes it a no-brainer
Hit me up if you got any ????'s
BTW, I will have pics soon if you want to see how mine turned out.
Peace

Alright cool about the painting of headlamps , I definitly like how it causes the lights (bulbs) to look and goes good with the color (red) .

Go to google and search for "How to adjust headlights" and you will be enlightened. (pun intended)
I don't have a 6G, but one screw controls left/right orientation, and the other is up/down orientation.

Alright, I will try to give the most detailed instructions I can.....
First, you will need access to a
10 mm socket
flat-head screwdriver
phillips screwdriver
oven (like in your kitchen)
tinfoil or a cookie sheet
Black Primer Paint, since it is about the only thing tha will stick to chrome, plus it looks badass
All right, nwo that you have all the tools we will start...
1.)Take off the bumper. 5-6 Plastic Clips under hood in front, real easy to see. ! screw in each fenderwell, 2 screws underneath car in middle.
2.)Put bumper aside, preferably on a towel or blanket.
3.)There should be 4 screw on each headlight, 2 on top, 1 by where the center grill piece was, and one by the turn signal.
4.)Tkae out headlight and turn signal bulbs, then the headlight should be easy to just pull off
5.)Now you have the headlights off
6.)Preheat your oven (or your moms
) to 250 degrees
7.)Put a few layers of tinfoil down on the oven rack, and put your headlight assembly on the tinfoil.
8.)Cook it for 10-12 minutes, check on it every 2 minutes or so to smell for excessive melting
9.)Take headlight out of the oven and use a screw driver to pop up all of the clips around the headlight lens, then pry the lens away from the back part of the headlight, if it is too dificult (it takes some muscle) put it in the oven for another 2-4 minutes
10.)Pull out the chrome piece that is inside your lens.
If you want clear turn signals, take out the amber "dome" thing, you will know what I am talking about when you see it. Also, you can get rid of the amber reflector very easily now, so if you want to, do it now. You should remove both of these before painting even if you are going to put them back though.
11.) Put chrome piece down on paper bag, and apply thin even coats of paint , remember a lot of light coats is better than a single heavy coat.
BTW, you can mask off the turnsignal part to leave it silver, or you can go w/o masking it and give the turn signal a black surround, this is what I did and it looks badass.
12.)Wait for the paint to dry, while it is drying, you should put your other headlight in the oven and do steps 8-11.
13.)Now you should have both headlights painted black, and still in many pieces, you want to snap the chrome piece in to the clear lens piece, then put that onto the backing as good as you can, it wont fit perfectly, but that is why we will take it back to the oven.
14.)Put it in the oven for 6-8 minutes to make the glue pliable again, then you can push it together and close all of the clips. Put some silicone sealent around the whole thing to prevent condensation.
Repeat with other headlight
15.)Now you should have your black headlights back together but still not on the car. Putting them on is very easy just reverse steps 1-5.
This will prob take you about 1-2 hours depending on how often you wrok on cars, if you know how to take off your bumper, but it really helps to have at least 2 people, if not 3, working at once.
Hope this helps someone, if you have anymore questions be sure to ask!!!
