Default cam gears ?

Ok im in process of building my b20v rs machine 12-1 cr cast 84.5s probe i beams balanced rotating assembly for the bottom end. Top end consists of fresh 3 angle vj gsr head resurfaced crower cromo retainers and blox dual valve springs an s2s1s. My question is, will i neccasarly need cam gears when tuning? I just want to make sure before i go ahead and buy a set. THANKS HT!!!

youre only going with stage 1's but you are running 12:1 in my opinion just get a nice set of skunk gears to match your cams just in case of future cam replacement...stage 1's wont keep you happy for long lol...

I think he might be talking about pro 1s. Otherwise there's no point of running that high of compression only for stage 1s

Really? I run around 12.5 compression with Stage 1's.

Nothing wrong with that. But if you got tuned with some pro 2s, then you know what will happen to those hp numbers

My 1.8L engine didn't like the bigger S2S2 cams that I originally had in it. It responded much better to the smaller cams I'm using now. 2.0L engines are a much different story though.

stage ones is what im talking about not pro ones i dont have 700 to put out on cams, ive seen basically same build as mine on itr/ctr cams making very nice number so i think s1's should be just fine till i can get better set of cams
