Newbie to the area.... need some help CBR wont stay running.
Alright, here is the low down... I just recently purchased a 99 cbr600 and the owner before me told me that it hasn't been ran or turned over in 9 months. I obviously charged the battery and got fresh gas and then proceeded to turn on the bike. It stays on for a minute or two before idleing to a stop. If I try to give a little gas, it will hesitate for a sec, then go.... and then die shortly after. I took off the gas tank and everything seems to be in order, including the carbs, air filter and everything else. The only problem, or I think might be a problem, is when I turn the throttle the flaps inside the carbs don't move.
Like I said, I am new to this field so take it easy... I am on here to learn, not to get flamed. If you have nothing of use, don't post. Thanks in advance to everyone or anyone that can help me out.

Thats because they're vacuum operated. CV carbs... you'll need to take the float bowls off the carbs, clean them (soak for an hour in simple green/warm water mix) and probably replace the idle/pilot jets. Gas doesnt like to sit for so long.

Another thing to check, after the carb clean, is the fuel pump. I had a similar problem, even after cleaning the carbs. Turned out my fuel cut-off relay went bad over the winter, so the fuel pump wouldn't cut on and the bike would die after running for a few seconds. Doubtful thats your problem, but who knows. Good luck with the carb clean
