what are your plans and/or goals with the car and engine ? the b20b and LS cost roughly the same amount.

well i want to turbo it just for the hell of it. but idk if it will fit in there with everythign else , and i damn sure dont wanna take out my ac in this heat, if i get more power out of it then ill take the b20 but my plans as far as anything is just turbo , might also do gsr head swap later on

well the b20 has got a lot more torque to it yea its possible its just gonna take a lot to put the motor in because your goin from a non o.b.d motor to a o.b.d motor but if you got the money its definetly worth the investment

i was told that you can use everything from the b18a on the b20 except for the driver side motor mount bracket and the intake manfold because it wont clear the hood i also was reading that b20s are better for turbo because of low compression

b20 will fit, hood will close, but it is close, you can keep AC but you will need to be selective with the manifold/turbo size and location if you want to keep it, p28 ecu can run a b20 with obd1, gsr head/vtec will work as well, go for it and get the low end torque!

b20 will fit you will have to change out the intake manifold to any one from a b18a/b, due to the b20 having that huge manifold, plus even if you can make that one fit the ls will yield more power. If you want to boost a b20 DONT GO CHEAP ON TUNE. They have the thinnest cylinder walls of all b series block, and w/o proper tuning under boost you'll end up with blown sleeves.

i had a b20 in my hatch bone stock with just a dc header and ls manifold on a ls p75 ecu and it hauled ***

Do you even know what your talking about? Just because it has a 0 at the end doesn't mean it doesnt have "On Board Diagnostics" (OBD)

As for the OP, I would just swap in whatever you can get for cheaper because they are pretty equivalent motors.

b20's originally came in crv's and as such are classified as light truck engines. it'll never be a legal swap.

This question really depends on your goals. The B20B has low compression but also lower horsepower compared to the B18x (124 range), although it does have more torque. The B20Z is more expensive than the B20B and has higher compression (9.6:1?) resulting in mroe horsepower than its counterpart (145 range) and torque compared to the B18x but will have to be torn open if you ever want to lower the compression. I would sleeve and use forged internals in any B20 application, so you might as well just go with a B20B.

b20, good for all motor. ls good for turbo. u need to know what set up u want. turbo or n/a. cuz if u want na, u can get that gsr head n have b20/vtec. ls would be the choice for turbo rather than the b20 due to their high compression. n if u do choose to go ls turbo n ur old b18a right now is OBD 0 i suggest u go with an OBD1 or 2 b18a or b18b.

Well seeing that your from california i wouldn't get a B20. It's a bitch to get smogged. I'd say just got with a newer b18. It'll save you the headache. Not only that stock for stock theres only a 5 hp difference.

if ur from socal i know of this place in riverside that can smog it though. i also used to have an ls OBD1 but it blew so i got a b20b. swapped out my crower 403 cams n valve springs n retainers from my ls into my b20. it did pull a lot better than the ls.

thats a crv stock hp with the stock exhaust mani and intake mani and that restricted crv ecu. change all that out to that of a ls and it'll yield a bit more power then that.
