car wont start... no power to the starter. HELP?????????
i have no power to the starter. fuse is good but when i turn the key theres a little click from under the dash. i think the click is a relay but im not sure.
Im not sure if there is a starter relay or not
What can be the problem?
ignition switch?
any help will be much appreciated

Is your battery good? Have you checked your starter connection? Are all of your grounds hooked up? Did it run before?
if it is manual transmission, it has a starter relay under the dash - also has switch on clutch pedal to keep it from starting without depressing the clutch

i hear the click when i press the clutch in so that leads me to beleive the switch is okay.
does anyone one a way to test both the starter relay and the switch on the clutch pedal?

alright. heres a little update...
changed the relay which wasnt the problem.
after testing a little more the grounds are good!
the weird thing is that if i jump the starter with a wire from the positive terminal on the battery the starter engauges. than after i do that the car will start!.
what could be the problem?

Well, your grounds are apparently good, the main fuse is good, the starter is good, battery is good. There is a break somewhere else in the starter circuit.
I'd check your clutch switch. There is also a chance that the ignition switch contact assembly has a problem, but usually those show up intermittently.

i was thinking that too but i'd like to NOT think about that! seems like a head ache....
is the ignition switch seperate from the key tumbler or is it one peice?

The ignition switch and key tumbler are separate. It's a bit of a pain to remove though, because IIRC the bolts that secure the bracket to the column are of the break-away type that must be chiseled off.
There are actually two clutch switches on the pedal for some models IIRC (what car is it?); I'd start with those first.

its a ef hatch.
the thing is, is that im geting power to the remote wire going to the starter solinoid when the key is turned.
that leads me to think that the switch on the clutch is good.
i also measured output from the starter relay and im getting 12v from that when the key is turned which leads me to think the ignition switch is good as well.
im thinking it maybe something internally with the starter solinoid.

do you have any thing to add to that because thats a little vague?
i have power to the relay and to the starter when the key is turned so why would it definatley be the ignition switch?
