Chipped OBD-I ECU running Crome is a good choice - as it's integrated into the stock system - you can burn the basemap of other ECU's onto it.
You can go that route (which is good for mild builds) or you can go with a standalone.
As far as standalone goes?
Hondata s200 or an AEM EMS.

by definition, a standalone replaces the stock ecu with a new one.
