i have somewhat of a similar problem with my 1990 accord automatic.
It take about 15 minutes for the car to know it's in the "park" gear in cold weather before i can take my key out!!!!

Yes they wear out, if you have alot of keys on your ring the weight will loosen everything up and the destroy. The key part of its like $20.00 at autozone but the switch is like $60 doll hairs! I would go to honda so your keys will all match!
oh wow....i am surprised.....
my car is a 99 accord sedan ex, 88 000 KM on it
i thought it was either the key mechanism or it was the battery
so i have taken everything on my key chain off...keeping the key seperate
i dont have a lot on my key chain tho.....1 house key, remote for the car, and a darth vader lego man...

if at that time i can turn on the emergency signal (red triangle button) that means the battery is good right?
go down to autozone or o'reilys and have your battery load tested if you think its bad. But, its really not that uncommon to break the igniton lock and have the key loose in there causing your car to shut down/shut off
