I'm a newb....i need advice or whatever from one of you techies. I was in about an hour of traffic bumper to bumper..stop go , stop go..the run of the mill san diego bullshit traffic...and i notice heat coming from the parking brake....furthermore i felt the center display where P,D,R,N, and it was also hot.....even the little center console flipup - top portion was hot...WTF? should it be a cause for alarm? normal? bad ? transmissino? help!!! a newbie!

 

It sounds like normal heat from the cat, which is located directly below that area.

x2... I had heat come from the floorboard and it was from the cat also...

 

The heat shield was probably taken off. I know I have mine off because it rattled.

 

i had smoke come up that area before when i ran open cat.

 

When I changed out the cat for another header unit without a shield my parking break lever area started getting a bit more warm as well. Sounds pretty normal if the shield isn't there.
