why overheat when car is stopped for a long time?
my crx over heats when its stopped for a while why is that? i did notice that my fan is not spinning at all. can anyone help me solve this problem or give me a diy on how to check or make the fan work?

You need to jump the fan to see if it works. Disconnect the plug from the fan and then get two wires, both long enough to reach the battery. Connect one wire on the + and one on the - then touch those wires to one prong on the plug from your fan. If the fan turns on then the fan is good still and you need to check your sensors. If it doesnt, your fan is bad.
Well I had this problem too, last year. Just ride with the heater on you'll be okay. J/K. I replaced my coolant and thermostat, that fixed the overheating problem. Just recently I removed my a/c and I noticed a noticeable drop in under hood heat.
definitely need the fan to run to keep from overheating while idling for long periods of time because no ais is being pushed through the radiator fins. All you need to do to check the fan motor is run a long wire to the battery positive and run a ground wire somewhere else to something metal doesnt matter which pin you put it on the fan will spin wither forward or reverse telling you if the motor is good
