GSR build ?'s
Ok well I have decided to go with a gsr build instaed of a b16. Im goin to b using eagle crank and rods, what will get me more power LS rods and crank or gsr rods and crank....Im goin to b using 12.5.1 pistons if that matters..let me know what u guys think
then why do people go through the trouble of building lsvtecs if there is not a huge difference? I wouldn't spend close to $1k if it didn't make a huge difference? BTW what's your definition of a HUGE difference, 1lb. torque, 5lb torque, 10lb torque on an NA build?

people build lsvtec because it way cheaper. for example b16 or gsr head $350.00-$400.00... ls short block $100.00-$200.00>$450.00-$600.00 for head & block.gsr complete long block$1500-$2500. you get what im trying to say. but grs block & ls crank & rods is all right, you get a little more tq, how much i dont know but it wont rev. as good as a gsr full combo. unless you balance the ls crank and rods, but how much more you be spending..so just go with what you feel best with, dont go by what you hear not everybody on ht has tried all the combinations...

I think you have been given some misinformation. All GSR, ITR and LS crank set-ups will rev perfectly well if assembled properly. ARP rod bolts are all that is required if you want to rev an LS crank assembly safely. They are cheap too, maybe $50. Also GSR, ITR and LS cranks are all balanced in the factory in the same way. Balancing is not necessarily required but is usually done by engine builder's to verify that everything is good. Vtec blocks do offer the added insurance of a block girdle for the mains however. I don't really see the need for it in a street motor with say a 9000rpm rev limit though. On the other hand, it is nice to have it for added block security.

damn, people paying 1500-2500 for a gsr longblock? I only paid $1200 shipped for a 98 longblock w/ 80K. My other gsr block w/ ls crank and rods, itr pistons cost me 800 to machine, balance, etc. assemble. Head was 300, so 1100 for a sleeper lsvtec. And yeah, I plan on reving my sleeper lsvtec to 8500 RPM as well as my gsr w/ gsr crank.
