Default What Oil weight and brand are you running on your turbo honda?

Just curious to see what weight oil you guys are running on your turbo setups and what brand. I heard that Mobile 1 stopped making 10-40 Synth. and was curious to see what other are using. Please let me know!

Nice. I am currently running 0-40 in my hatch turbo setup. Will that work?

You just said your running Enos 0-40, correct ?

Or is it some other 0-40?

In my turbo 2005 subbie I run what ever 5-30 in winter 10-30 in summer is on sale. As long as it meets the SAE standard. IMO it's more important to change the oil then what kind you use. Think about all the cars out there with turbos with owners that don't have a clue. Just use a name brand oil.

I've been driving for over 35years, can't say I ever had any issues with any name brand oil.

Let the debate begin.

turbos get very hot, you dont want to run a thin viscosity oil, it will breakdown too easily. but at the same time you need it flow well through the lines and turbo. i personally run 10w30. castrol syntec

I saw 10-40 mobil 1 the other day at Costco... 6 for 30$
Must be left over stock, because they only show 15-50 or 10-40 high mileage on thier website.

got those backwards bud. synthetic oil resists thermal breakdown. conventional oil should be used for break in only. synthetic > conventional in all categories but price

Nice save...

I should add my 05 subbie Legacy GT has over 77,000 miles on it most of them with over 300HP. The turbo is fine. It's been through some abuse. I'm still sticking with what ever oil is on sale.

mobil 1 5w30 has a problem of losing viscosity after hard driving and about 1500 miles. it also burns off more than 10w30 and say 10w40

I was just at Wally World the other day, and the shelves were fully stocked with M1 10w40 old and crusty engine formula. They also had 5 quart jugs for $20. Over in the motorcycle section they have the expensive motorcycle M1 10w40 for $8+/quart. I was never able to find the so-called extended drain 10w40 M1.

I have old stock of 5w40 M1 Truck and SUV formula (same as Delvac 1), which is now relabeled 5w40 diesel. If you check Mobil's website, they even say it's the same exact thing. Very good oil, but the price went up. The smell reminds me of Redline oil when it burns. I use this in the Summer. The Truck and SUV is now 5w30.

My Winter oil is also old stock 0w40 M1. I don't think it's the greatest oil, but I bought it for really cheap. It's definitely better than the common M1 5w30 and 10w30 formulas.

unless you live in a relatively cold climate yes. in winter 5w30 is fine if it gets colder than say 25* on an average day. i live in GA and run 10w30 year round.

Currently I am running 0w-40. I guess my question is if this is ok???? I was told this is not much different than the 10w-40. It is Mobile 1. Please let me know your thoughts. More info is great seems we have a good many thoughts on this issue. I change my every 1500-2000 miles.
