Since my R has got atermarket exhaust and coilovers, so everybody can hear and see this is a modified car, I find myself in the same situation everytime I`m out at night at a car-meet (100-150 cars of every brand, no street racing, just meet and have fun together)...
I arrive at the parking lot (of a supermarket for example) and look for friends or just a place to park the car.. and everybody`s staring and heads turn..
From that moment I climb out of the car I have 5-10 guys around me, asking me what`s this and that, numbers, mods etc... The car is very famous for it´s tunable ECU (not common in my area, I think, I´m the only one around) and everybody wants to take a look.
But now that the list of my mods is long and I`m thinking of the money I`ve spent, I keep my n/a work more and more secret.
For two reasons:
1) I don`t like to get too much attention... just not my case, personally
2) I don`t want to invite anyone to steal my R (or it`s expensive components)..
What it your way to deal with that ? Or don`t you get attention so you don`t have to answer the same questions every time you`re out ?

I don't tell anyone anything. My friends know to keep their mouths shut as well.
Them: Is that a hybrid?
Me: Huh? Nah man.
Them: Oh, ok.
That's usually how it goes.

I never had anyone ask me what my mods are unless I'm at the track or just running someone on the street. If I were to be asked what my mods were if I was at Randalls I would think thats kind of strange. Then again I live in the SUV America so we dont see many enthusiasts around here.
Anybody that asks me gets the usual, "Eh, intake and exhaust." If someone is smart enough to hear a lobe or two, hehe, I just throw in the occasional... "oh that, its just a bad spark plug wire. Does it from time to time."
Another thing to do is just take of the badges and wing since your car is black. My MKIV has a SE (N/A) tag on it, so when somebody asks me if it's a turbo I just tell them its N/A, then smoke them

People always ask my mods and times, etc... And I always tell them or give them a ride. However lately people will call me a liar saying that it can't be done, etc... So what I find myself doing is just saying I have the basics. If they know their **** and point out stuff that idiots won't spot then I will go into detail on my car. Most people look into my engine bay and saw wow, however if they know their stuff they would want to see inside the engine to see if its really stock per what I say it is and what it is. lol
Keeping it on the down low its better IMO for various reasons. Notice my sig? Yeah gone. I kinda like it better like this. As with keeping what I do now a hush unless I need to tell people stuff to say away from or what to try.

I keep my mouth shut.
That's just my nature. Even if theft weren't a consideration (it is) I would keep mum. I'm a sneaky bastage. My car looks pretty stock, too. Hell, I didn't mod it to impress other people anyway. I'd rather be ignored, just like I intentionally ignore every import I see on the road.
