Oil Pick up to pan clearence How far???

Hey guys how much clearence must there be from the bottom of the oil pan to the bottom of the oil pick up ?? 3/8"??

i'd like to know as well. also, has anyone modified their pan to make it more shallow and moved the pickup?

The standard is normally .375" to .500". I like to keep it closer to .375" though. Don't forget to consider the pan gasket thickness when checking.

Im pretty sure somewere i read that moroso recomended .375".

thats what im going to set mine to on the new pan

It actually depends on what oil viscosity you plan to run and how large the pickup is (surface area). Most of the pickups in race engines are between .25-.50

I believe its .5" pick up and im going to run probly 15-w40 weight oil

I would be on the heavy side of .375-.500" with a thicker oil like that.
