hytech vs smsp
ive been trying to find the great header test pics with these 2 headers put against each other with no success. i know the smsp won but i want to see how badly. can somebody post up the pics please?
I tested a Hytech ITR header against an SMSP B19 header on my 2 liter and there was no clear winner. The Hytech was significantly better below 4,000 RPM- the SMSP had a nice peak at 6,000, and they made close to the same peak power-with a very slight edge going to the SMSP. Either header is a good investment.

Every Hytech style header I seen is all dented up on the bottom. My SMSP has not at all been dented even tho my car has always been slammed. SMSP style all the way when it comes to ground clearance.

lol
being pro-active is being one step ahead!
what people fail to realize is the smsp header was built for a larger than stock CC b series block, while the hytech was the original design for a stock CC..
which probably accounts for the hytech owning the smsp downlow, while the smsp has the slight edge up top at WOT and in the upper rpm range of the powerband.

hmm... interesting way to look at it... is there a properly built setup hytech graph floating around?

I had an SMSP header on my car when it was in B motor trim. It went off roading a couple of times w/out incurring any damage.

Those are pretty big pictures, so be prepared. It shows the B motor ITR in a fairly close-hauled heel with an idea of the ground clearance. The car was lowered to get camber on the nose, so the clearance is worse than it would be on a street car.
The headers he makes now might have better clearance.

I don't know about "properly built", but the same Hytech header made this graph on a 1.8 liter ITR motor:

Do you mind saying how that motor was built?

The motor in that link was tremedous. I have to give you mad props. That link should be a sticky.
Anyway, I put it in my sig.

I'd like to know what was done to that itr motor.
Those numbers are really good.
They approach some of the better cams & bolt-on k20's.
Nice work, and nice graph!!!
