i left my car in school parking lot at 6, came out at 6 40 and my car was gone .once i found out my car was gone i contacted the police to see if they could try to find them about five minutes later the cops come give me a call and tell me they found my car in the same parking lot, just about 20-30 rows down, once we get to the we notice that every possible wire has been cut or disconnected including the ecu,suprisingly the idiots did not take any motor parts, only my mp3 player and the sterio, i beleive that they could drive it because it has a stage one clutch because a hatch was stolen right after mine, my insurance is going to get everything fixed, but i was wonder what i can do to maybe stop/prevent this from happening again?? i already have a killswitch(fuel) lowjack and stock alrarm, i was maybe thinking of upgrading the alarm, or getting a removeable stering wheel with hub,any suggestion appreciated

umm, id also throw a KS for you battery, a good alarm with a pager, get the removable steering wheel..thats always a good one..and low jack is a good have.

maybe that boot thing you can throw on one of the wheels

 

i think maybe they wont be able to fire up the car thats why u found the car at the same park lot but just sat at different place.dont leave anything valuable in the car,if u have a detachable face plate stereo.take it off or at least hide it every time when u leave the car.

 

A little off topic, but I am lookin' into Lojack for my car.

What did it cost you to have installed / monthely service or how ever it works?

Also, makes me wonder if you had all these security systems, and the theives were smart enough to get around them, why they only took MP3 player?

 

Sorry to hear that brother. It was not the clutch that stopped them, They got what they wanted and left it. I have an 00' si and I keep it in the garage at home and I never park it where I can't see it. If I can't see it, I don't take it. If they stole it where I live, you would have only got the shell back!

 

viper alarm, proximity, etc. chek out the tape and go kick their *** or your skool cannot afford security cameras?

its too bad they didn't have any. but a removable steering wheel will at least help keep it from getting stolen. there aren't too many things to keep a theif from breaking in though.

 

fuel cut off switch, clutch lock, wheel lock (like the cops use), good alarm, THE Club

^^^just a few off the top of my head. Some suck, but you need to LAYER your security.

 

with a removable steering wheel, would you lose your airbag? I would not want to risk injury in a crash for some security. Maybe a fuel cut-off switch and removable face plate for your stereo... Sorry to hear about the theft though...

i think you do lose your air bag...well atleast from the wheels that ive seen, none are SRS wheels

 

yea my school has a full police force but no cameras in that lot, i dont think they stole my car for just radio faceplate and an mp3 player, there would be no reason to get the car started for that, i guess ill look into the viper alarm and a removable stering wheel regardless of not haveing a airbag

Get another kill switch, hide it better.

Backup battery and a paging alarm. Hood pin switch, tilt sensor. Interior siren's are a good idea usually.

A good alarm install would help too. Rerouting the hood release cable is a must.

Pro = Rupturing the thief's eardrum. And feeling like a dumbass.

cars get stolen all the time with a quick release. thats nothing to them the local so cal thread i guy had a quick release hub lock and they still stole the car. no steering wheel included.

 

yes, a quick release is NOT any form of theft deterrent worth mentioning.

x2... it wouldn't be hard for a theif to get a quick release steering wheel and use it on your car... think about that

More like driving with vice grips, towing your car, or pushing it somewhere so they can do what they want.
