Potential new daily driver...
So heres my question...
i've been looking for a hatch and ended up finding this guy who is selling a BEAUTIFUL 86 civic SI....i guess the original owner kept it in the garage a big part of its life. The car has 62K miles on the original motor and the interior is IMMACULATE!!! i really should take some pics to show you how well taken care of this car is...so the guy is selling it for 2k!!!
What do you think? should i pick it up? is this a cool car? i've always wanted a lil project civic...but this car is sooo clean i might have to leave it stock.
all / any advice is appreciated

The price isn't bad, but i'd have to see pictures to determine that.
I'd do it though, its not a collector car by any means, but later down the road, a cool vintage honda.
and then comes the dilemma about maintenance, not that it hasnt been done already but; belts, hoses, fuel filter, oil etc, etc... might have a hefty project.. but it is a 20 year old car.

Has it been sitting for awhile? Be sure to check the rubbers, etc.
Sounds like a good pickup, being an Si you still have to protect it from Cali Honda thieves.

My dad had a red '86 SI. I learned to drive in it. I learned to auto-x in it. I learned to do a few other things in it too! I would jump at the chance to get one just like it in excellent condition.

An '86 Civic is not an EF.

Nice find! I say keep it the way it is. There are enough modded civics out there to go around. I bought a CRX SI a year ago as my daily, it's all stock except for an EDM wing I added. You'll get asked if it's for sale and complements all the time if you keep it as is.
Mine were 87 Civic SI throught out college days.
It was the best handling torsion bar FWD with rear trail arm suspension Autocrosser ever to my taste. I was in CSP and real talented drivers were dominating in D Stock. Even on my second R, I still feel that this little Civic was the best handler with nice torque but runs out of rev in this 1.5 PGFM 12 valve motor. Weak point is the second gear syncro and suck rear drum brakes that goes out of adjustment in every 3K miles.
This was my college daydreamer and today still have the Tamiya 1/24 version of this Mugen Gr. A Racer! Too bad Mugen discontinue everything long time ago.
