yea it is, i just got myself a tach for my 94 eg hatch from a 95 ex coupe. all is perfect and there will probably be a green clip hole that you can just leave alone. thats what happned for me.

Wait, are you saying that anyone with a DX with no tach can just replace the gauges with another set from a higher-trim civic which has a tach and the tach will fully operate in the DX?

As long as it's not the TCS version. If you have that version, the trunk and seatbelt lights will not work properly as they are in different pin locations.

A regular SiR cluster is PnP.

i know you'd lose your correct mileage count and all that but otherwise i don't see anything bad about doing that....what's my best bet if i want to get gauges with a tach? what's the cheapest way and from which car? (I guess it has to be from a 96-99 Civic EX if you have a DX, correct? I'm not looking to get any SiR gauges or anything, just regular ones with a tach) what's the best way to get this? also is there a write-up for installing different gauges? thanks

You might as well go with the 92-95 civic ex cluster. Its a great cluster and looks pretty stock!

edit: Cluster came in today and its installed. Totally plug and play and looks great! thanks to all that gave me some guidance

ya just get a gauge cluster from any 96-00 Civic that has a tach such as lx,ex,si and you don't need a write up just a phillips screw driver even my little sister could do it
