anyone running toda cams in thier gsr?
im hopefully getting a j-spec gsr motor soon for my civic coupe and i want some really good cams (going all motor) i wanna feel the car pull hard and i know toda makes some good **** but before i go spend a grand on cams i was jus wondering if anyone has them or has rode in a car with em..if so how did it feel?? if not that great ill jus get some CTR cams thanks much
Like any aftermarket cam, there not worth **** until you tune them, prepare to spend alot of time on that. You could always build a strong motor w/o touching the internals, the Toda, JUN, Crower, Skunk2 and JG cams will not like the stock GSR intake manifold or exhaust manifold, they also wont like the Low compression of the B18C1 (10:1 USDM, 10.6:1 JDM) so you will want to upgrade the other parts before sticking a big cam in there.
I would do it like this.
B18c1 JDM spec
JG Edelbrock intake manifold and TB (I have seen these in action, huge top-end gains)
DC sports Stainless steel JDM header (less expensive and good gains)
JUN Ultra-lite flywheel
2.5 inch exhaust (SMSP, Hy-tech, Type 1 and Kakimoto all make 2.5 inch or bigger)
Mugen Headgasket (bump compression to 11:1)
V-AFC or Fields VTEC controller (important if you plan on any type of aftermarket cam).
This will add considerable HP and give you the proper parts to help the cams breathe properly.

I have Toda Spec B's on my GSR....Its alot of money to make power out of them i'll tell you that. I only made 180whp with them and raised compression with 900 miles on my pistons. That was after it was tuned on the vafc/fpr/cam gears. You need at least i/h/e and a head gasket.
What i need now is a chipped ecu, skunk2 manifold, hondata, injectors, tuning and i think i will be at least in the 190s-195s. Pretty respectable if you ask me.

so i should just get some CTR cams then huh?? if i have like an extra $500 what should i get or would you recommend?? i just want my car to pull real hard and i dont wanna go turbo so heres the mods i plan on doing..
thanks for the input

spoon cams were designed for circuit racing, and basically you are paying for the name. skunk2 makes good drag cams, with good topend.
