Going from Reg Oil to Synthetic???? I need reassurance
Guys I need some advice I seem to have drawn a blank. Would it be alright to switch from regular motor oil to sunthetic at 25k miles? All I need is a quick answer. My brothers car has always been treated with regular and now is debating to use synthetic and I can't remember if it would be alright
Thanks....
Thanks....
Yes it will be fine. And don't listen to anything George says.

*Safa who has been missing out on George's sayings*
So what would George say in a situation like this?

You may notice some oil being burned when you switch to the synthetic, but it isn't the oil's fault. The new synthetic oil may be able to get past your piston rings where the old oil couldn't, but running synthetic is the way to go.

Actually, it is probably best you waited til the 25k mark. I have been told that you want to leave regular motor oil in as long as possible to let the parts wear some and really get well set, then you switch to synthetic to preserve the parts.
Everyone's got their theory. I switched to synthetic at around 7000 miles because I was doing a track event.

As long as possible? It's possible to never change it... your theory needs to be a little more specific. Besides, he's already @ 25k
i like the concept of synthetic oil but i'm not a big fan of the blowby that happens. I rather use conventional 5w30 from Valvoline or something similar.
If I were to go with a synthetic oil, I'd use the best, Leading Edge. I have tried it and that stuff works awesome.

I was running Full Synthetic Mobil 1 and switched to Valvoline Durablend and i am having much better results with it, no more buring up oil so fast!!!!

George would say that, of all the people he's heard talk about motor oils, the likely most knowledgeable and the one he believes is Ichisima, of Spoon Sports.
Mr Ichisima believes that expensive oils are a waste of money, and that whatever oil you use is fine, provided you change it frequently.
He places more stock in baffled oil pans than expensive synthetic oil.
George still likes Castrol and Valvoline.
De gvstibvs non est dispvtandem, however. George is not going to comment beyond making these brief comments. Unless he gets aggravated by inflammatory remarks.

i also believe in change it frequently and no worries motto.
synthetic also wears down your rubber seals and gaskets. (been told this by 4 different mechanics so far, as well as read it in an article)
spoon? why get spoon when you can get spoom
00-0187 is also a fan of the baffled oil pan. oil starvation really sucks.
