Default My driver door wont stay open - it swings closed even on level ground

Hello Gentlemen

When I first purchased my car, the door would hold in it's place once I open it. In fact, on a small hill where my mother lives, I was able to open it and it would stay open. Now it swings closed.

Is this an easy fix? Can I do it myself? Any advise or instructions would be great.

I can sure use the karma.

Thank you

What accord do you have? I should say YEAR.

Anyways if you open the door, in the front of the door inside, there should be a black bar (plastic) or metal bar that prevents the door from closing. See if that is cracked. I'm not familiar with that mechanism though.

thank you

1998 Accord ex

I see that bar, but it is not cracked. In fact, it looks very good. I tried looking at honda parts, but I cant seem to figure what and how this black bar looks like and how to replace it.

thanks

Has the car Been in an accident?
Becuase the hole where that bar is supposed to
go could be stripped out....

hmmmm i'm NOT too use about this (note NOT) . it might be that spring loaded thing inside the door. As you can see in the bar, there are bumps. And those bumps prevent the door from closing easily. It might be the mechanism inside. Like a pin type. Well good luck on that. You can mess around and see some diagrams.

http://www.hondaautomotivepart...ANELS im thinking 11 or 15 maybe 16.

GOOD LUCK!

I saw these parts awhile back when I dismantled the door panel to look inside. I didnt have much luck. Hard to see inside and to resolve.
