Default Is this a good deal?

I dont know much about Hondas, I drive a 97 Camaro, but Im looking at a 92 Prelude S 5 speed for a daily driver. Its in GREAT condition and has 204,000 miles on it. He is asking $3000.

Is that a good deal?

What kind of common problems or maintenance issues do these cars have with that kind of mileage?

Any help would be much appreciated

Honda's can go for a long time so if you dont feal comfortabile doing a complete inspection of the car take it to your trusted mech.

With that kind of mileage all the rubber parts start to break down( my heater hose on my 92 s is starting to leak) Ask if the timing belt/water pump has been done. Get a leakdown test done to make sure the engine is mechanical sound.

Oil leaks are usually cam/crank seals, balance shaft seal, dizzy o-ring, oil cooler o-ring, oil pan.

I paid $800 for my 92 with 194,xxx but it's not in GREAT condition at all

If the car has been well maintained maybe 3 but i duno.

Well, I talked to the guy tonight. The car is exceptionally clean BUT, it doesnt even run. He said it just died while he was driving down the highway so he towed it, parked it and put a For Sale sign on it. He never even bothered to take it to a mechanic to have it checked out.

Im not buying a 204,000 mile car that doesnt even run. It would be a great project, but I need a dd, the Camaro is my project car.

Thanks for the help guys!
