Default Transtop Del Sol project (video)

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!! 10/10/07
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNR1Iu5utLw

i decided not to use the oem computer.. i dont know if it even works..
i used a window control module... connected to the key..
i had no switches so i have not connected the part that grabs the roof..
but i temporary connected it and it works.. will have better video tomorrow

Day 0
i received my clip.. hmotorsonline did a wonderful job packing it for shipping
only problem is that its missing the tilter gears
Working on find them hopefully my new best friend from the uk can get some for me

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 1
Spent 2 hours dismantling the clip..
Removed rear window
Removed all the plastic.
Removed truck lid
Removed roof
The main part is held in by 6 bolt..
Disassembly was pretty straight forward
Got my first look of how its mounted to the car
going to have to drill out 2 big brackets and 2 small ones and weld in my trunk
But i knew this already.. NO CUTTING THE CAR IN HALF
Ecu has 5 plugs and like 100 wires going to it.. thats going to be fun later

pics (battery ran out so this is all i got but nothing was hard to do)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE 9/30/07
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally got some time to work on the del sol... pictures below

first we marked out the cuts we need to make in the floor of the trunk

next we removed unnecessary brackets

removed trunk hinges

cut holes in floor

bolt in bucket things under the car the protect the transtop

close up of holes

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE 10/02/07
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
brackets welded in...

i also bolted in the rear section... will take more picture tomorrow

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i will keep this thread updated for you del sol fans out there..

please dont ask me questions about how im going to do what ever.. when i do it i will show yall.. and no i do not plan to chop my car in half

I'd love to see what all is really involved for this.

Take LOTS of photos so we can see how it all works, how it all goes together and what is needed to do a conversion on a non-transtop car.

Good luck.

I doubt you have to "chop the car in half". I'm sure you can install it somehow using the existing car.
