Del sol of miata????
I have psoted this on a few boards to get somemore opinions. so what do you guys think? I want something that i can take the roof of off so there are my choices. please list a pros/cons, if you have owned either let me know!
what about a s2000?
otherwise i would get a del sol. the possibilities are endless. motor swap, kits, aftermarket = honda
.
if you want a miata, ummz..jrsc or a custom turbo, rwd and it doesnt look as nice.

Both the miata and the del sol and grea, howver the miata is a better handeling car hadns down, del sol's espically the vtec are faster in a striat line, also the Miata has very little trunk space, the del sol's trucnk is hugh, I can put a 17inch computer monitor in its box in the trunk just fine and still have space on all four sides for oither stuff.
I own 2 sols, but I loved the way my ex's miata handled. Fun car! Either one would be fun. But the aftermarket as far as power upgrades go, is huge for a honda. FI is the only real upgrade for older Miatas. The new 6 spds are JUST FUN!!! Try em both out. Can't go wrong with either one.
i have a civic and a miata,
the first gen miata's are great, but the second gen's have a 6spd which to me is more effecient on gas. handles way better than any civic i've ever driven.
i'd take a miata over a del sol.
oh yah, trunk space looks small but i fit my b20 block in there perfectly.

If you want to autocross buy a miata. If your pride is not sufficient to endure the stigma of driving a "girl car" then a del sol should be fine. Given the choice I would say miata, but I like to autoX...
RWD
agreedI DID NOT enjoy having a convertible as a daily driver though. Leaks, noise, cold, heat, vandalism, theft, it's just part of owning one. If this is going to be your 2nd car and you've got a nice, cozy garage for it, Miata. If not, Del Sol all the way.
i hate miatas. i have driven a few and they did nothing but **** me off.
however, there is good aftermarket support for them. swap wise they are a good platform. all miata engine drop in. good turbo/sc kits are made for them too. plus the one thing i saw that blew me away is that you can drop in a big block domestic engine if you get the mounting kits. somewhere out there is a websights that sells the mounts and i think it gives instructions too. still after driving the miata and del sol i would take the sol. just mho

My buddy just bought a Miata .I blow him off the line in top end and in mid range .The miata is a nice girlie car .It`s fun and all that but you can`t beat a B16A2 with a miata without spending a ton of money .I like them as a fun car .but if you are serious about sport forget it .
i always liked del sols.. but miata's are nice.. the newer ones are really nice.. but remember.. the older ones? u can put a FC (2nd gen rx7) in that thing.. imagine over 200 hp turbo into a miata? the swap isn't that much and i think its a funfactor and original.. how original is another honda on the street hehe.. miata's aren't my favorite.. but that's my 2 cents...
ps: a yellow del sol with mugen mf8(bronze) and CF hood with jdm stuff here and there would be the bomb too
oh yea...
miatas are rwd..... u can dab into the drifting world which gives u a whole new look on cars... a del sol will just be another honda

Main reply: both r girlie cars.....
As for the auto-x thing, my del Sol VTEC hangs quite nicely with the Miatas at the events. Let off the gas on a good turn and the back end comes around quite nicely, and is easily whipped back into place with a heavy throttle.
Drifting scene? I think you guys are reading too many magazines and watching too much of that stupid cartoon with the AE86 or whatever...
IMHO, as always.
hahah girls car? i dont own either... but come on now..... girl cars are= prelude's v6 accords.. and integr'as... tell me.. if u own one of those.. are u girlie>??
I own a '97 Delsol S type, and i just have to say, it is the best car i have ever driven (and i worked for an auto dealer, so i've driven a lot of cars). Right now, it is dropped on GC coilovers, w/ tokico blue HP struts, rollin on 16" Rota C8s( with Kumho Escta Supra 712s), and i can out handle any miata any day. Also, i have no engine work as yet(just got the car) and i will pull on any light mod'ed miata too, with a non VTEC D16Y7. I'd get the Delslo in an instant, although if you can find one, get the SI (VTEC D16), or even better the DOHC VTEC (B16). Those are better bases to begin with. Also, it is a lot easier and cheaper to get parts for them, hands down.
