Default Burning oil smell....gasket or seal?

I noticed lately that the under carriage of my EK looks like i drove through an oil field. i searched and looked the possibilities are a bent oil pan or bad gasket or in need of a new rear main seal my car has a B16 and i dont have any slippage problems with the clutch but what i cant find is do you use sealant when replacing the oil pan gasket or not i want to change this first before i drop my tranny and have a go at the the rear seal anyone know ......THANKS IN ADVANCE

Its up to you. If you do use sealant make sure both the block and oil pan surface are very clean before you apply it.

start at the top and work down. how many miles? does the oil run down or blow back from the valve cover gasket, or under the timing cover? your best bet is to buy some engine oil dye from napa or local auto parts store, and use infrared light to pick up where it's leaking out. that's what any dealership would do.
