Car Not Starting! PLEASE HELP!!!
ok well, i have a 92 civic 4dr and recently my cars been havin trouble starting. There is no crank and the motor doesnt turn over. i've been told that it could be the main relay but i dont have a check engine light on after tryin to start and my fuel pump is priming. i did find however that we got the car to go after push starting it and the problem went away for a while, but the next day i go to start my car and nothin happens. Any ideas or suggestions to whats causing this and how i can fix it?
if u know that could be your main relay ,have u tried to replace with a different one? CEL wont come on because the main relay.try to tap on the main relay while u turn your key to start the car.if it starts.then thats your main relay issue
starter might be the problem too since the car wont turn over.the best way to test a starter is to hot wire it.see if it clicks .u dont even have to disasemble starter

If you can push start it but not turn it over with the key, it's probably not your main relay. I don't think the car would run with the main relay blown.
Try getting a jump from another (running) car, that'd pinpoint whether it's the starter or the battery. If it turns over when you're being jumped, then it's your battery. If it still doesn't turn over, it's probably your starter.
If you can remove the starter and bring it in to AutoZone or another parts store, a lot of them will test starters for you (for free) - if you don't feel like hotwiring it up to a 12V source to test it on the car (but that would tell you if the starter is working, for $0, with minimal work).
If you do hotwire the starter, just don't do it with the car in gear...

Last time I checked the main relay only works the fuel pump. I'm pretty sure it'll still crank if the main relay is bad.
Anyways, you can tell if it's bad by when you turn the key you'll hear a click from the passenger side kick panel (then the fuel pump primes) then you hear another click.
If you're missing a click, you got a bad relay.
As far as your issue:
Check the grounds to the starter - try jumping the starter.

ok, well i checked all connections from the starter and everything seems fine. theres no corrosion and no shorts to ground i do hear both clicks and the fuel pump is priming. now jus a few minutes ago i got the car to start usin the key then i shut it off and tried to start again and the problem retrned, no crank no turn over. what should i expect to happen or to see when i jump the starter?

Dammit, that's what I get for not digging out my Helms. Maybe I was thinking of a different fuse.

ok, so i just got done testing the starter, even took it to autozone to double check and the starter is good. i put the starter back in my ca and went to start it, and it started right up. i shut it off and tried to start it again and the same problem occured. What could it be??!? main relay is good. starter is good. connections are good. WHAT?? please help
im thinking you have a short in the starter signal wire from the key.. get out your helms and figgure out which wire in ur column goes to the starter and replace it.. or temp install one to see if thats ur problem..
well like i said, you have to identify what wire is the starter singal wire.. im sure a wiring guru or a helms manual could tell you.. im not sure off the top of my head.. and then go to ur starter.. theres going to be a small slip on connector.. pull it off. now run a wire from that connector on ur starter to the wire in ur column.. and turn the key.. if it starts.. you know u have a short in that wire.. i know this is the gangster way of doing it.. but hey if it works.. just replace the wire..
