Rear o2 sensor hitting shift linkage after B16A2 swap into EK hatch
I just swapped in a B16A2 motor into my 99 EK hatch. I'm currently using a 99 EX cat (which has the same p/n as the 99 Si cat). The cat has the o2 bung into the center of the cat (compared to the back of the cat on the 96-98 EX cats). The problem this creates is that the o2 sensor goes right into the shift linkage. I can't install the shift linkage if the rear o2 sensor is in place shown in the pictures below.

This is as far up as I can put the shift linkage w/ the o2 sensor installed in the cat.

Do I have the cat installed correctly? I can't see any other way of installing it.
I'm attempting to use the rear o2 sensor from my stock D16Y7 motor if that makes any difference.

ditch it for a test pipe. you wont have this problem. but the fix for this is probably pretty simple i just dont know it.

a test pipe wont solve your problem because u wont pass emissions when you need to... also u still have to use the 02 sensor

a test pipe is a bad idea, he's from Cali. Smog & emissions laws.
Secondary 02 sensor does not affect engine performance at all, it is strictly for emissions readings during inspection, and also to keep an eye on the cat's quality. Its perfectly fine to drive the car around without it, although it will throw a code since the ECU does not detect it.
Go to a muffler shop, they could help you by either relocating the 02 bung and sensor, or by cutting the flanges on both ends, and rotating the cat slightly one way or the other, whichever helps it clear the linkage.

Well, I'm using all OEM parts, so I'd exect to have OEM fitment. There must be something I have installed wrong. Anyone who has an EM1 Si or 99-00 EX want to chime in? I wonder if the 99-00 EX/Si rear o2 sensor has a shorter body.
i did a b16 swap in my eg and everything fit great..... take ur exhaust loose and put on the linkage... im not sure though just an idea

put ur shift linkage above your o2 sensor... looked at my eg w/ a b16 and thats how i did it... should fit above.

So you have a rear o2 sensor installed on your EG? You have a 99-00 Si/EX cat? I tried above and below.. neither seemed to work. And if it did, it probably wouldn't have any clearance.

Try taking off the cat and twisting it 180 degrees after that see if the O2 will still reach to the plug.
If not that try removing the o2 sensor and attaching the linkage afterwards see if you can fit the O2 sensor in.

The cat can only be mounted one way as the rear flange is a 3-bolt. It can't be rotated in 180 degree increments.

Eg's dont have 2nd o2 sensors
What you need to do is go to a muffler shop and ask them what they can do. Chances they can cut the flanges at both ends, and rotate the cat in such a way to get the O2 away from the linkage, or just flip it around all togather so the O2 is on the opposite side.
Or take the Cat off, and rotate it 180 degrees, so that the flange holes match up again, only with the 02 sens on the other side, or at least away from the linkage.

Okay after doing some research on this, it turns out that the shift linkage on the EM1 Si's are different from the DC2's. Here's a picture of it. You can clearly see the bend in the tube to clear the secondary o2 sensor.
