Im in the market to put a JUN ultra light chromoly flywheel in the ITR, but from i heard of issues where if u use Japanese flywheels u have to use a Japanese starter to avoid teeth grinding when starting the car, can anyone tell me the truth of this?
I have install all of those flywheels. Every JUN flywheel does grind at some point, some do it all the time and some every 10 hits of the key. I have never seen a Toda flyheel grind, I have put tons of them in too, Also never seen a Spoon either. I have a Toda Flywheel in my own car and it has never given me one problem.

Comptech has never grinded in over a year.
Fidanza grinded the first two times I started the car after the new flywheel install, but hasn't done it since.
Clutchmasters never grinded.
Spoon is next to try, we'll see... just gotta burn my clutch up and I'll put this Spoon one in.
(these are only my personal accounts. yours may be different)

My spoon grinds like 50% of the time now. Some times if I just wait a second and try again it works. Sometimes I have to put the car in 5th and push it about an inch or so and then it works fine

I installed my toda flywheel 500 miles ago. No problems period.
Mike, how was the comptech (6.75lb?) flywheel? How does it compare to say a 9lb one?

So seems like overall, the chances of grinding doesn't seem as often as with b16a folks.
