Default Short Ram Intake

I have a 1998 Honda CR-V and am planning on getting a short ram intake for it. My friend has an intake but I am a little weary of it because, it has a tube coming out of the side of the intake pipe and I have never seen that before, or is it even supposed to be there? Also I have another question, I have heard that if I get the intake installed that my check engine light will come on periodically cause, this true?

No it will not cause a CEL unless you forget to plug something in.

The nipple that comes off the tube is for your breather. There will be a tube that you have to disconnect when you remove the old stuff. That tube will go to your valve cover.

If that SRI is not for your car then you might just have to plug it off.
