Default Front License Plates... Law Vs. Style

We all know our civic and Hondas in general look really slick without the front license plate, and some of us even put it up in out front window to try to make the local five-o happy, but doesn't always work. I know some states have had petitions and laws passed to do away with the front plate law. Not only does it save tax payers money at tax time but also the price of plates alone. What's your guys' experiences with the law and such. Any thought's? I see alot of civics on here with no front plates. So I know some of you have had run in's. I know I have.

It's a $10 fee here. But I get tired of the cops so I just zip tied my front plates because it won't fit on my front end.

I get stopped more for the plate and got a written warning recently, I also have 5 percent tint which they always say its too dark but never even give a written warning. So I guess if I get a ticket, put it on take it down to ok it and take it back off again when it checks out.

I was thinking of the relacation kit, but I really dont want to drill holes in my freshly painted oem bumper and I am concerned of how it will stick out from the front bumper.

Don't get me wrong I truly believe in Law Enforcement and their purpose, but it seems when it comes to us honda fans they take more interest in stupid little things rather than what can hurt our society. There is a big drinking and driving problem in the town I live in and see more and more people getting away with that with a simple slap on the wrist. But by god, dont have a front plate they wanna cavity check ya!

Here in WA... cops will pull you over and ticket you for not having a plate. I think it sucks. As far as I can tell the only real reason to have it is so they have something to point their laser guns at. Overall I would like to think most police have more important things to be policing.... but then again I am sure we have all seen our share of police acting as though these infractions are a high priority.

I have been in many states where you "must" have the front plate and have never been pulled over. I'll take the chance.

When I lived in colorado, you had to have a front plate... My friend got pulled over for having his "JDM" plate on the front bumper and having his regular one in his windshield... The officer said that it must be on the bumber, and that it could be dangerous to have in the window. If you you get in a wreck it's a thin piece of metal flyin around.

But now since im in florida, I dont have that problem here... Now front plate ftw :D

I like my civic without the front plates. I live in Wisconsin and i drive past a cop like every other day. No troubles yet but i'm always paranoid.

Mine has been off for so long I forget it's a law here. I just keep it in the glovebox and throw it on the dash when I get pulled over. (actually it's an if because i've never been pulled over in my black car)

5 years now and no hassles. I live really close to Indiana though which doesn't require it so i'm guessing they are used to seeing it missing.

it works both ways really.
if u have it on they cant pull u over.
but if u dont and u get pulled over for (x) reason u can get a simpathy ticket and be on ur way. $10 check fee and $15 clearence fee here in cali.

i personally like have fix it tickets visiable (my lights, my tint, my muffler) i have never gotten a speeding ticket or any other ticket beside fix it tickets (easily half a dozen or more) and ive been pulled over doing some really stupid things.
it all depends in the cops in ur area, cuz a dick will be a dick.

ps best part of my situation is that i have seriff friends that write off the ticket, ive gotten tickets for my tints and muffler at least twice each and i get to keep em on i just have to pay the 25$

ps II no front plates is not a good enough reason to pop the hood, so stand ur ground (politely) if that happens to you. i got asked to pop my hood because of my muffler and i told em that wasnt a justifiable reason to and he just wrote me the fix it ticket for the muffler.

Got pulled over before TWICE by the SAME cop. Cool guy let me off both times. I told him someone stole my relocator and he just let me go.

Then I got pulled over by a dick cop who did a U-turn and ran a red light to catch up to me.

The smart and hassle-free thing to do is to just keep it on, but like mentioned it looks better without.

I have been stopped over 10 times so far this year, the other night was my first written warning, been bugged about my 5 percent tint but no ticket on that yet. Guess I need to find a hook up within the department, to write off the tickets when it happens.
