k24/k20 build
just a build for my 93 civic
carfax of my engine
2003 HONDA CR-V LX
Body Style: 4 DR. WAGON/SPORT UTILITY
Engine Type: 2.4L L4 PFI DOHC
Manufactured In: UNITED KINGDOM
kinda a project/build thread.
the reason why i went with the crv block is becuase of the lack of oil squirters, for this build an accord or TSX variant would require either the removal or modification of the oil squiters that are found under the piston. (same as those found in b16 and other b series engines)
the previous owner of the block had a k20a2 oil water cooler on it, he stated it was a simple modification that required a trip to the machine shop.
the block also has a k20a2 oil pump. and aluminum oil pan. this allowed removal of the balencer shafts, and stamped steel pan of the k24. the longer windage tray from the rsx-s engine was also added. for details on why most people do this check out k20a.org.
the transmisson im planning to use is the 6 -speed acura rsx-s trans. it will be fitted with a mugen LSD.
the hondata gasket was supposed to add like 2 horsepower, due to the intake manifold heatsinking or someshit. i just needed an intake manifold gasket.
a HONDA 06-07 si RBC intake manifold will be used in this swap. its supposed to be the highest flowing k series intake manifold aval. i dont know how credible that is, but i can get one for cheap
acura RDX injectors 410cc injectors are going to be used..............
the head will be from a k20a/2. ive heard a k24 exhaust cam is slightly more aggressive, i want to look into this before i run out and get one.
the header will be a suprise.
flywheel will be some sort of lightweight flywheel. this car isnt a daily so before you comment on it, check out the accord ********! Razz
06-07 k20z3 chain guides.........are longer
i am using hybrid racing mounts the older ones where the bracket is still all aluminum
here are some random pics i started dissassembly today, for sure i am going to re ring it but i dont really know waht to do after that lol dunno what i really want
bought some more parts, the braket required for the swap (crv bracket) k20 damper, and a water pump................its coming along
in all the excitment i did not mention why i am using the k20a2 stuff, the aluminum oil pan has bette cooling effects for the oil, not to mention the 2 extra transmisson mounts incorperated into the oil pan
still need :
-head
-trans
-im
-gaskets
-manual pedals
-shifter box
-cables
-alternator
-starter
-flywheel
-clutch
-C.O.P.
-crank sensor
-rad hoses

why dont you change the pistons for more compression
also you will be revving pretty high with that gearbox, might want to change the rods also

well i KIND of lied by saying its all motor, itll be a nice weekend shift around and amatuer drag night car, this motor wont be competitive in any form of racing becase all forms of racing simply do not allow this build!
and i have a 50 shot kit lying around hmmmm?
